Welcoming August in style
August 3, 2008 – When it is hot and humid and the temperature is in the 90s, there is no better place to be then by one of Minnesota’s 10,000 cooling and calming lakes. What better way to endure a good old-fashioned Minnesota heat wave then by participating in the Lakefront Days in Prior Lake. This year’s theme was “Legacy of the Lake” and it was enjoyable to spend time visiting with folks along the parade route and at beautiful and scenic Lakefront Park. After participating in the parade on Saturday, we returned this morning to Prior Lake for their pancake breakfast. I would like to congratulate the entire community of Prior Lake for hosting a successful six-day celebration.
The torrid heat continued today, but so did the summer fun. On Saturday, I spent the day in Prior Lake, and today, I spent the afternoon along the majestic Mississippi River. I traveled to the southeastern corner of Minnesota’s 2nd District to help the historical and charming community of Red Wing celebrate its River City Days. There are few communities more picturesque than Red Wing. Earlier this year, my remarks were entered into the Congressional Record for honoring the city of Red Wing for being designated one of our nation’s “distinctive destinations.” I am sure the thousands of Minnesotans who joined us in celebrating River City Days would agree.
