The International Foodservice Distributors Association endorses John Kline for Congress
BURNSVILLE – The International Foodservice Distributors Association gave their backing to Congressman John Kline’s re-election campaign and honored him with the 2008 Thomas Jefferson Award for his continued support of legislation that allows small businesses to grow in a free market system.
“Thank you for your strong support for the Jeffersonian ideal of a smaller government that permits the free enterprise system to flourish,” said Jonathan Eisen, Senior Vice President, Government Relations for the IFDA. “Through your votes on issues such as reducing taxes, workplace regulations, and other economic matters, you have demonstrated your commitment to our nation’s prosperity and economic well being.”
In his first inaugural address, Thomas Jefferson articulated the principles of free enterprise upon which American democracy was founded: “A wise and frugal government… shall leave men… free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government.”
One of John Kline’s primary motivations in running for Congress was to push for comprehensive reform of our tax system that would put more money back into the pockets of taxpayers. Keeping taxes low allows families to build a better life for themselves and their children, enables businesses – large and small – to create jobs and compete in the global marketplace, and provides an environment in which innovation can flourish.
