60 Plus Association Honors John Kline as “Guardian of Seniors’ Rights”

“Seniors Have No Finer Friend in Congress Than John Kline”

Burnsville – John Kline received backing for his re-election campaign from the 60 Plus Association for his “senior friendly” voting record in the 110th Congress. Legendary entertainer Pat Boone, a spokesman for a national non-partisan senior citizen group, has presented John Kline with the Association’s “Guardian of Seniors’ Rights” award.

Boone, a recording artis and, movie and television star in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s, called John Kline a “fighter for the elderly.” Boone cited John Kline’s support for repealing the 1993 tax on Social Security benefits, as well his support for repealing the “death tax” which hurts small businesses and family farmers across the country.

“Congressman Kline knows a bad tax when he sees one, and the death tax is as bad as they come,” Boone said. “I am pleased to present this award to Congressman Kline. He is a tax cutter, protecting the pocket books of senior citizens. 60 Plus calls on nearly 5 million seniors for support so I believe I can speak on behalf of seniors when I say that they can count on John Kline. Clearly, seniors have no finer friend in Congress than John Kline.”

John Kline is also fighting in Congress to protect seniors’ Social Security. He has repeatedly stated his refusal support any program that reduces benefits for current retirees or those about to retire.

“Social Security provides critical support for millions of Americans,” Congressman Kline said. “Those already receiving Social Security – and those nearing retirement – should not have to worry that their benefits are in jeopardy.”
