Vets for Freedom Endorses John Kline
A “Steadfast Source of Support” for Our Men and Women in the Armed Forces
BURNSVILLE – The Vets for Freedom Political Action Committee offered its support for John Kline’s campaign for Congress in Minnesota’s 2nd district , citing his “steadfast source of support” for our nation’s brave men and women in the Armed Forces.
“As a fellow veteran who has proudly served my country in the United States Army, I am humbled to speak on behalf of Vets for Freedom in offering our strong endorsement of John Kline for United States Congress,” said Pete Hegseth, Chairman of Vets for Freedom. “As a former Marine with a lifetime of public service, John understands that the fights we are currently undertaking in Iraq and Afghanistan are essential to our success in the global fight against Islamic extremism. He recognizes and acknowledges the success of our current military strategy implemented by General Petraeus, and has been a steadfast source of support of all the men and women who are winning the Global War on Terror. Our country is lucky to have people like John in Washington.”
Vets for Freedom is a nonpartisan organization established by combat veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Its mission is to educate the American public about the importance of achieving success in these conflicts by applying their firsthand knowledge to issues of American military strategy.
“I am proud of the men and women of our Armed Forces and their progress in reducing violence and stabilizing the ground situation in Iraq,” said John Kline, a 25-year veteran of the Marine Corps who retired at the rank of Colonel. “As we move forward, we must carefully weigh the strategies put forth by the commanders who lead our brave soldiers, sailors, Marines, and airmen.”
In Congress, John Kline serves on the House Armed Services Committee. One of his greatest legislative initiatives on behalf of veterans is “Beyond the Yellow Ribbon.” Signed into law earlier this year, Kline’s legislation establishes a national combat veteran reintegration program that provides National Guard members and their families with information, services, and opportunities throughout the deployment cycle. Congressman Kline was honored earlier this year by a “Heritage Painting,” one of the National Guard Bureau’s highest civilian awards, for his “continued support of the National Guard.” This summer, Congressman Kline successfully co-sponsored and helped steer to passage an unprecedented GI bill that improves education benefits for veterans of today and tomorrow and their families.
